"The sun hits ya - head North. Open up to 12 - steamin' now."

I find The Perfect Storm to be an incredible expression of strength. There is the willpower of the fishermen to go out to sea. The ability to love despite distance. The waves and raging ocean. I have so much respect for people who are true to their passions, committed to love and I find standing beside the ocean to be incredibly humbling.

I think that God instills in each of us a passion. So often people try to suppress it and conform to expectations that others hold for them. But I think we need to honor the way that God has uniquely created us. Absolutely He wants us to lead meaningful and beautiful lives. Our lives may not seem grand to others, but as long as there is joy and purpose, isn't that enough?

I also find that the unexpected storm in this movie parallels our trials and tribulations in life. There is so much uncertainty in life and so often we find ourselves asking why life has to be so hard - but there is always a reason. We have to have faith that God is working in our good because he loves us.

Romans 8:28 is one of my all time favorite Scripture verses, it says,
"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."

I think we must always live fully, trusting God to do what is best, because we never know when our time will come. We must live with no regrets. Love more. Forgive more. Reach out more. When we live for God we are grounded and filled with unwavering peace. We are grounded on open seas too - our faith in Christ allows us to walk on water.
